Texas Voter ID Bill
I’ve never been one to argue politics with anyone, but the recent political climate causes me great concern about our country. One example that I’m going to blog about here is the Texas Voter ID bill that Gov Rick Perry has proposed. The bill sounds pretty simple to me yet democrats are fighting it. Now correct me if I am wrong, but the bill simply says (I’m paraphrasing here) “show your ID so they can prove that you are who you say you are”, thus improving the likelihood that there is no voter fraud.
Now Democrats want to argue that there has never been voter fraud and therefore deny this bill. However, to prove that there is no voter fraud occuring why wouldn’t you approve the bill? Wouldn’t this improve the integrity of our voting system?
It boggles my mind that there wasn’t already a bill or rule requiring this. You can’t drive a car, write a check, enter a bar, or enter a secure building (school, office, etc.), then how can you engage in the event that shapes our government and our way of living without proving who you are? If you ask me, denying this bill is a sign that there IS something fishy going on and the dems don’t want it to stop.
